Celebrate Easter with us

March 30, 2017 at 1:11 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Easter 2017

Celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ with us this Easter at one or more of our creative worship services:

  • Maundy Thursday (April 13th) – 7pm: A candlelit communion service remembering the last supper Jesus had with his disciples. The service concludes with a Tenebrae mediation – a series of seven bible readings during which the sanctuary grows darker reflecting the declining loyalty of the disciples during Jesus’ arrest, crucifixion and death
  • Good Friday (April 14th) – 9am: A sombre yet creative worship experience remembering the death of Christ.
  • Easter Sunday (April 16th) – 9am & 5.30pm: We will put the resurrection on trial as we look at the evidence for this history making event and consider its wonderful ramifications for us today.

Surf Together

March 7, 2017 at 10:43 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Surf together

Each summer members of our church get involved in helping to welcome refugees to Australia by doing what Gerringong residents do best – surf!

‘Surfers for refugees’ was birthed out of a desire to use this great Aussie pastime to show hospitality to newcomers to Australia, many of whom have experienced great trauma prior to reaching our shores. Now titled ‘Surf Together’, this exciting ministry will take place for 2017 this Saturday 11th March at Seven Mile Beach (conditions allowing). We will gather from 9am at Emery Park, Gerroa.

Those who have joined us in previous years loved the day in the water, but even more so loved being welcomed to our great country. A number of relationships have come about via this ministry  which have deepened throughout the years – always good to make new friends.

All are welcome to join us – for more info please call Marty Richardson on 0402 374 175.

Mentoring: get into it

February 16, 2017 at 6:23 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

The importance of mentoring when following Jesus is found throughout Scripture, and in February and March we will be challenging ourselves to ‘Pursue a Paul, Be a Barnabas, and Train a Timothy.’ Join us at either our 9am or 5.30pm Sunday services to find out more.

BiG GiG start this Wednesday 8th Feb

February 7, 2017 at 11:09 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Boys in Gerringong (BiG) and Girls in Gerringong (GiG) are our Wednesday night kids clubs for primary school children, and one of the ways our church seeks to bless and serve the Gerringong community.

We hope that through the activities each week the kids can learn more about themselves and about the loving God in whose image they are made. As well as nurturing our childrens’ physical, emotional, social & spiritual development, we also want BiG & GiG to  be a time when everyone has lots of fun! Each week involves some games, an activity related to the night’s theme, as well as a Bible story which speaks to that theme (you can see the BiG program for term 1 below). The evening concludes with a light supper. All the leaders are active members of the Gerringong Uniting Church family, and are committed to helping the children of Gerringong grow into strong, confident & Godly young men and women.

We ask that a parent or adult carer sign the kids in at the start of the night (6.30pm) and out at the end (8pm). A donation of $2 each week covers materials & supper. Please call Peter ‘Swanny’ Swann on 0401 666 468 for more info.

Church @ the Beach – January 2017

January 3, 2017 at 10:42 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Each Sunday throughout January our 5.30pm Evening Service is held at Emery Park, in Park Road, Gerroa. This is a great chance to relax amongst a caring and fun community of faith. We enjoy a BYO picnic dinner (free BBQs available) and share in a brief time of informal worship and teaching. A game of cricket usually follows, as does a swim at the beach for the really keen!

So if you’re not into all the trappings of ‘church’ but are interested in exploring how following Jesus will be the best way to spend 2017, this is the least ‘churchy’ option around – basically a BBQ dinner with friends, some fun acoustic music for the kids, and a short creative message. All welcome.
