Join us this Easter as we celebrate ‘Jesus the Game Changer’:

  • Maundy Thursday (March 29th) – 7pm: A candlelit communion service remembering the last supper Jesus had with his disciples. The service concludes with a Tenebrae mediation – a series of seven bible readings during which the sanctuary grows darker reflecting the declining loyalty of the disciples during Jesus’ arrest, crucifixion & death
  • Good Friday (March 30th) – 9am: A sombre worship experience remembering the death of Christ. This year we will consider the seven final saying of Jesus from the cross.
  • Easter Sunday (April 1st) – 9am & 5.30pm: Join us as we celebratory the resurrection of Christ and ask what makes Jesus such a game changer for both us as individuals and for the world.

Sgt Wallace Sharpe Memorial

Wallace Sharpe

100 years ago the tiny township of Gerringong was rocked by the news that the popular Wally Sharpe had been killed in the Great War while serving with the 6th Australian Light Horse in Palestine. Wally was a committed member of our church, and Wednesday 28th March marks the 100th anniversary of his death. From 10.30am we will be remembering ‘Uncle Wally’ and all Australian service personnel who continue to serve in various peacekeeping operations today. All welcome.

Jesus Christ has made an indelible mark on human history and He continues to do so through His followers. Yet many people do not realise that the values western democracies are built on originate in the life and teaching of Jesus – the equality of all, servant leadership, care for the poor and marginalised, dignity of women and children, education, to name just a few.

Join us at any of our Sunday worship services or at any of our mid-week home-groups for this 6-week video-based series as host Karl Faase travels to the UK, USA, Singapore, India and Australia, interviewing authors, academics and modern-day game changers about how the life and teaching of Jesus changed the world and why it matters. For more info about the series, visit the website, or call Rev Peter Chapman on 4234 1044 to find out how to get on board.

Surf together – Sat 24th Feb

February 19, 2018 at 11:39 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Surf together

Each summer members of our church get involved in helping to welcome refugees to Australia by doing what Gerringong residents do best – surf!

‘Surfers for refugees’ was birthed out of a desire to use this great Aussie pastime to show hospitality to newcomers to Australia, many of whom have experienced great trauma prior to reaching our shores. Now titled ‘Surf Together’, this exciting ministry will take place for 2018 this Saturday 24th February at Seven Mile Beach (conditions allowing). We will gather from 9.30am at Emery Park, Gerroa.

Those who have joined us in previous years loved the day in the water, but even more so loved being welcomed to our great country. A number of relationships have come about via this ministry  which have deepened throughout the years – always good to make new friends.

All are welcome to join us – for more info please call Marty Richardson on 0402 374 175.

Kids Play launches in 2018

February 2, 2018 at 1:34 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Kids Play is a group specifically designed for children aged 0-6 and their carers. Come along for a fun morning of play, music, stories and activities. The program offers plenty of time to have fun and make memories through singing and play based activities, as well as time for carers to get to know each other over morning tea while the kids are supervised in a structured activity or free play.

Kids Play will happen each Friday during school term from 9:30 – 11:00am in our Sunday School hall (and outside on fine days). There will be a small cost to cover morning tea and craft: $2 for your 1st Child, $1 for your 2nd Child and then all subsequent children are free. Weekly activity updates on “Kids Play” Facebook group. Contact Peter & Laura Swann on ‭0401 666 468‬ for more info.

Church at the Beach – Sundays in Jan

January 2, 2018 at 2:35 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Church at the Beach

Each Sunday throughout January our 5.30pm Evening Service is held at Emery Park, in Park Road, Gerroa. This is a great chance to relax amongst a caring and fun community of faith. We enjoy a BYO picnic dinner (free BBQs available) and share in a brief time of informal worship and teaching. A game of cricket usually follows, as does a swim at the beach for the really keen! So if you’re not into all the trappings of ‘church’ but are interested in exploring how following Jesus will be the best way to spend 2018, this is the least ‘churchy’ option around – basically a BBQ dinner with friends, some fun acoustic music for the kids, and a short creative message. For more info call Pete Chapman on 043 999 1980.
